Welcome

Seraphim, Montreal’s vibrant 18-voice chamber choir is known for contextualizing a cappella contemporary repertoire within the works of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Seraphim’s diverse membership includes representatives from many professions (including teachers, nurses, physicists and students), who share the common traits of musical training, choral experience, and a passion for music-making. The musicians in Seraphim enjoy the thrill of singing music in 4-8 parts, often with only one or two voices on a part. This intimate setting requires the ensemble to work together in highly focused, energetic and dynamic weekly rehearsals.
This season’s performances will feature music by living composers including Javier Busto, Ola Gjeilo, and Rosephayne Powell, paired with hallmark works by Bach, Palestrina and Poulenc. In early December, Seraphim will perform the opening concert of the Choralies Festival at the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours in the Old Montreal. Seraphim will also engage in educational outreach programs this season, aimed at encouraging young teenage singers to continue to develop their skills in choral music.
Auditions for the 2011-2012 season will take place in late August and early September. If you are interested in scheduling an audition, please contact info@seraphimsings.ca .
